Professor Marketing Management
Guy Bauwen has a Master in Industrial Sciences (Electrical & Electronic Engineering) from Hogeschool Ghent and specialized in Industrial Engineering & Operational Management Research at the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Ghent University. Guy received his MBA from Ghent University (Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School) in Belgium. He obtained additional executive management education at Babson College, Stanford University and Harvard Business School. Guy is Doctoral Candidate in Applied Economic Sciences at the Faculty of Economics & Business Administration, Ghent University.
He is currently Managing Director of BMG, a Coaching & Consulting Group and Scientific Associate at the Ghent University, Faculty Management & Business Administration. He started his career in 1980 in engineering and project management with Heinen Engineering and joined General Electric in 1984. He is in charge as Product Manager and Marketing Manager for several international units and moves to GE Industrial Systems in the USA in 1991 as Manager Business Development & Global Integration. In 1994 he joins Alcatel Business Systems as Marketing & Product Management Director. Later he becomes Director Marketing, Business Development & Strategy of the international Switching & Routing Systems and Fixed Solutions divisions. He is a board member of different associations and member of Rotary International. Since 2000 he is as well an Advisor on foreign trade to the Minister of Economic Affairs.
