Wat is de kern van jouw professionele expertise?
Carlos Ocampo y Vilas teaches Operations management and Management Science, and works with companies (e.g. Pfizer, BASF, Decathlon, Maerks, Zorgbedrijf Antwerpen) to solve operational problems. These range from the preparation of a Six Sigma implementation program to charting all the company processes with BPMn and identifying and solving bottlenecks. He applies his knowledge both to the manufacturing and service industry (profit and non-profit).
Hoe sluit jouw expertise aan bij de vak(ken) die je doceert?
I teach courses in Production and Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Management Science, Statistics and Business Planning.
He is coordinator for the in-company projects for the Bachelor in Business Administration students of the Kuleuven campus in Antwerp, and the coordinator for the Master of Education on the campus in Antwerp. These two positions provide him with an extensive network and many applied projects in operations and education.
Welke praktijkervaring of projecten illustreren jouw expertise?
I work (together with students) with small and large companies and institutions on projects, these range from strategic advise to improving performance. I also have research projects with health care companies like Zorgbedrijf Antwerpen with respect to improving quality in health care processes.

The insight that operations are everywhere, and that you need to integrate all functional domains when dealing with the improvement of processes.
