In this lecture we are going to discuss several fundamental aspects of competition in digital markets such as the adoption of new technologies, firms’ competition in platforms, trading in anonymous markets and consumer’s demand for product and services online. Thus, in the lecture we focus on the lessons that have been learned on the functioning of digital market, and on the new challenges that competition in these markets are posing to new businesses.

About Mattia Nardotto

Mattia Nardotto is Associate Professor at the department of Management Strategy and Innovation of KU Leuven, where he teaches courses in Managerial Economics and in Network industries and digital markets. Formerly, he worked at ParisTech, U. of Cologne, and DIW Berlin. He holds a PhD from the University of Bologna.
His research interests are in the areas of applied industrial organization and competition policy, with a focus on telecom, media and digital markets. He also works in the area of behavioral economics, and in particular on consumer decision making and consumer protection. His research has been published in the Journal of the European Economic Association, Management Science and The Review of Economic Studies.
